ALWAYS practice very very slowly to ensure good habits and clarity of playing and finger movements.
Be conscious of what you are doing. Awareness of all finger, hand, body movements, and breath is key.
Practice for 15 mins intervals to keep the mind fresh
LISTEN to what you are doing. Is this the highest quality of sound that I can produce? Is the voicing balanced well? Are the melodic lines clear with good phrasing and direction?
Try the most efficient and effective solutions.
Be a creative problem solver.
Know what you are doing. Be present with yourself. Don't zone out.
Break down the difficult passages into smaller pieces. Work on smaller parts at any given time rather than the whole difficult passage at once.
Correct the mistake in your mind before you let the fingers do the work.
Have a practice plan.
Know what your musical goals are before executing the passage.
